BILLINGS — Three seniors from the Montana State Billings baseball team have earned National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association preseason all-region honors.

Outfielder Jalen Garcia is a first-team selection, while second baseman Conner Linebarger and pitcher Steen Fredrickson were second-team picks.

Garcia, of Billings, was a first-team all-GNAC and second-team NCBWA and Baseball Coaches Association selection last seson. Garcia batted .351 with nine home runs, 51 RBIs and stole an MSUB single-season record 25 bases. He also led the Yellowjackets with 20 doubles and seven triples among his 71 hits.

Fredrickson, of Ashland, Oregon, was an honorable mention all-region selection after being selected the Co-Pitcher of the Year in the GNAC. He led the GNAC with 70 strikeouts in 69 and one-third innings. His seven victories tied the MSUB single-season record.

Linebarger, of Bozeman, hit .333 with six home runs and 44 RBIs. A first-team all-GNAC pick, Linebarger had a .952 fielding percentage in 209 chances.

The Yellowjackets, the reigning GNAC regular-season champions, open their season Feb. 9-10 against Colorado Mines in Golden, Colorado.
