MILES CITY — Patrycja Jaworska scored 22 points and undefeated and 17th-ranked Miles Community College beat Dawson Community College 77-46 Saturday afternoon to advance to the championship game of the Region XIII women's basketball tournament.
The top-seeded and host Pioneers (31-0) will take on third-seeded Bismarck State College (23-6) at 3 p.m. Sunday for the title at MCC's Kailey Gymnasium.
Against Dawson, Miles raced ahead 32-11 in the opening quarter. The Pioneers' defense forced 28 turnovers and scored 42 points off the miscues.
Besides Jaworska's scoring output, Miles also received 10 points from Claire Borot. Lucia Salazar snagged five rebounds. Bre Moea'i had four assists and four steals.
"It's a good victory for our team," MCC coach Nate Vogel said in a press release. "We came out with the right energy and effort and stuck to our game plan."
MCC is one of only two undefeated teams in the NCJAA Division I ranks.
Bismarck State defeated North Dakota State College of Science 87-68 in Saturday's other semifinal.
Miles has already beaten Bismarck State three times this season.
