FLORENCE —Richie Cortese drove in three runs and the Laurel Dodgers defeated the Bitterroot Bucs 16-6 in the first round of the State A American Legion baseball tournament here on Saturday.
Mission Valley scored runs in four of seven innings to defeat Miles City 5-3 in another first-round game.
The Mavericks scored twice in the second inning and one run in the seventh.
Jack Cline had Miles City's lone RBI, while Kayden Hager had a double among the Mavericks' six hits.
Deklan Harper doubled and tripled for the Dodgers and finished with two runs and two RBIs. Batting second, Keagan Campbell was 3 for 4 with three runs and one RBI.
Harper, Connor Polkowske, Carson West, Cash Golden and Keagan Thompson all had two RBIs for Laurel.
Laurel pitchers West and Kade McIlvain limited the Bucs to four hits over five innings.
In other first-round games on Saturday, the Vauxhall Spurs beat the Dillon Cubs 6-0 and the Gallatin Valley Outlaws beat the Lewistown Red Birds 6-3.
