LEWISTOWN — Laurel pounded out six doubles and the Dodgers went on to beat the Lewistown Redbirds 10-3 Saturday in the second game of an American Legion baseball doubleheader.
Lewistown scored all its runs in the first two innings and hung on to beat Laurel 7-6 in the first game.
Colton Ludwig and Connor Polkowske doubled twice for the Dodgers in the second contest. Teammates Deklan Harper and Kade McIlvain also doubled.
Ludwig was also the winning pitcher in throwing a complete game.
The Redbirds outhit the Dodgers, 12-11. Cody Henderson led with three hits, including a double.
Nolan Fry went 2-for-4, including a double, and drove in two runs, and Ben Kolar also had two RBIs to help stake the Redbirds to a 7-5 lead after two innings of the opener. While Laurel’s Canu Golden threw four scoreless innings of relief, Lewistown’s Kolar and Luke Clinton allowed just one Locomotives’ run over the final five innings to squeak out the win.
Carson West had two RBIs for Laurel, and Harper and Polkowske both went 2-for-4.
Kolar earned the win with 5 1/3 innings of work while Clinton got the final five outs for the save.
