HELENA — The Helena Brewers scored eight runs in the seventh and eighth innings to rally past the Missoula Osprey 11-8 on Wednesday night at Kindrick Legion Field.

It allowed the Brewers (7-5) to split the four-game series.

Missoula (7-4) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning. A Brandon Leyton triple scored a run, followed by a Jesus Marriaga single and a Joe Robbins single, each scoring one run.

The Brewers tied the game up with a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth, but then the Osprey's bats came back alive in the sixth. Missoula surged ahead in the sixth, scoring four runs.

It took fielding error by Leyton, which allowed two runs to score, and a Nick Egnatuk three-run triple in the seventh for the Brewers to claim the lead for the first time in the ball game.

Leyton, who went 2-for-4, made amends in the eighth driving home a game-tying run, but the Brewers responded with three runs thanks to a Yeison Coca, who went 2-for-5 with a triple to left field.

Peter Strzelecki (2-0) put down the final three batters to earn the win. Nick Dalesandro went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Osprey. The Brewers were led by Jean Carmona’s 3-for-5 day.

The Brewers travel to Billings for two games beginning on Thursday. Missoula heads to Great Falls on Thursday.
