CEDAR CITY, Utah — Madeline Smith's career-high 27 points lifted the Montana State women's basketball team to a 70-55 Big Sky Conference win at Southern Utah on Monday night.

Smith shot 12-of-20 from the field and grabbed six rebounds. Blaire Braxton added 10 points and six rebounds for the Bobcats (15-13, 10-8), and Oliana Squires had eight points and a game-high nine assists.

Breanu Reid led Southern Utah (7-21, 4-15) with 21 points.

Montana State led 14-6 after one quarter and 31-22 at halftime, and it pulled away with a 27-14 third quarter.

The Bobcats will return to Bozeman to face Sacramento State on Thursday for their second-to-last game of the regular season
