MISSOULA — Six football players from the Big Sky Conference are scheduled to compete in the league’s track and field championships.
The most popular events for them are the 100-meter dash and the 400-meter relay. Five of them will be participating in the 400-meter relay and four in the 100-meter dash.
Southern Utah wide receiver Frank Harris III will be competing in the high jump and the 400-meter relay. The sophomore is ranked first in the conference and tied for ninth in the NCAA in the high jump (7 feet, 3 inches). Harris was the Big Sky champion in the high jump each of the past two indoor seasons and was second in the 2018 outdoor season. He’s also on the 400 relay team that’s seeded fourth (40.99 seconds).
Idaho State wide receiver Tanner Conner will be running in the 110-meter hurdles, the 100-meter dash, the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter relay. The junior enters second in the 110 hurdles (14.32 seconds), sixth in the 200 (21.61) and ninth in the 100 (10.80). He’s also on the 400 relay team that comes in with the fastest time (40.70 seconds).
Northern Arizona cornerback Khalil Dorsey will be competing in the 110-meter hurdles, the 100-meter dash, the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter relay. The senior is third in the 110 hurdles (14.35 seconds), tied for seventh among the runners in the 100 (10.76) and is 11th in the 200 (21.74). He’s also on the 400 relay team that has the third-fastest time (40.92).
Northern Colorado cornerback Greg Laday will be racing in the 100-meter dash and the 400-meter relay. The true freshman comes in with the sixth fastest time in the 100 (10.73 seconds) and is on the second-seeded 400 relay team (40.86 seconds).
Sacramento State defensive back Daron Bland will be involved in the 100-meter dash, the 400 relay, the long jump, the high jump and the triple jump. The sophomore is seeded eighth in the long jump (23 feet, 0.75 inches), tied for eighth in the high jump (6 feet, 6 inches), 10th in the 100 (10.83 seconds) and 11th in the triple jump (46 feet, 6.25 inches). He’s on the 400 relay team with the sixth-fastest time (41.74).
Idaho linebacker Ed Hall will be participating in the discus throw. The redshirt senior is seeded 14th in discus with a toss of 158 feet, 4 inches (48.27 meters).
