MISSOULA — Guard Katie Mayhue is leaving the Montana women's basketball team, coach Shannon Schweyen confirmed Friday.

Mayhue started in eight games in played in 17 for the Lady Griz before a foot injury ended her season in early February. She was one of four guards who suffered season-ending injuries for Montana (14-16).

The freshman from Albany, Oregon, had the fifth-highest scoring average on the team at 7.5 points per game. Her 18 triples were the fourth most on the squad.

Mayhue intends to transfer to another school. She has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. Coaches across the nation are now free to recruit her to their school.

Montana will have a bevvy of guards with extensive experience this coming season. The list includes McKenzie Johnston, Gabi Harrington, Sophia Stiles, Madi Schoening, Taylor Goligoski, Sammy Fatkin and Jordyn Schweyen.

Mayhue committed to Oregon State while in high school, then changed her mind and opted to become a Lady Griz.
