MISSOULA — Of the 2,638 undergraduate students who made the University of Montana's Dean's List and President's 4.0 List for the spring 2017 semester, 22 of them are current or former Montana football players.

To be considered for either list, students must be undergraduates, earn a 3.5 grade point average or above and be enrolled in at least nine credit hours. 

Sophomore WR Colin Bingham, a health and human performance major from Missoula, maintained a 4.0 GPA for the entire academic year.  

Bingham, along with three other Grizzlies, achieved a 4.0 GPA this spring:

  • Freshman S Michael McGinnis, a physical therapy major from Sidney;
  • Freshman LB Marcus Welnel, a math/business major from Helena;
  • Junior P Eric Williams, a finance major from Missoula.

Eighteen players had a GPA between a 3.5 and a 4.0.

  • Freshman DE Eli Alford, from Park City, Utah; 
  • Senior LB James Banks, a cum laude business administration and science graduate from Junction City, Oregon;
  • Junior WR Keenan Curran, a business administration major from Federal Way, Washington;
  • Senior DT Brandt Davidson, an anthropology major from Tucson, Arizona;
  • Freshman ATH Josh Deshner, from Missoula;
  • Junior S Evan Epperly, an education major from Bigfork;
  • Junior S Connor Fohn, an accounting and finance major from Salem, Oregon;
  • Freshman LB Carder Key, from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma;
  • Senior OL Robert Luke, a cum laude sociology graduate from Tacoma, Washington; 
  • Freshman OL Skyler Martin, a business major from Vancouver, Washington;
  • Sophomore RB Cody McCombs, a health and human performance major from Billings;
  • Redshirt freshman LS Caleb Mitchell, a business-management information systems major from North Bend, Washington;
  • Sophomore LB Dante Olson, a wildlife biology major from Medford, Oregon;
  • Sophomore KP Brandon Purdy, an economics major from Kalispell;
  • Freshman WR Matt Rensvold, from Polson;
  • Senior WR Makena Sims, a history graduate from Boise, Idaho;
  • Junior DT Reggie Tilleman, a finance major from Genessee, Idaho; and
  • Freshman QB Tanner Wilson, from Polson.

The full list for the entire university is divided between in-state students and out-of-state students

Note: Years in school listed for each athlete were based off last year's roster.
