Montana senior Erika McLeod saw her indoor track and field season come to an abrupt end after the university announced that she would not be able to compete at the NCAA indoor championships due to a calf injury.
McLeod, a Butte native, strained her calf at the Big Sky Championships two weeks ago which forced her to miss the finals of the 200-meter dash, 60-meter hurdles and 1,600 relay.
On the first day of the conference championships, McLeod won the pentathlon and broke the school and Big Sky Conference record with a score of 4,128. That performance earned her an invitation to nationals.
McLeod currently ranks No. 11 in the entire nation in the pentathlon.
McLeod will finish her career as a Grizzly in the outdoor season in the spring.
