MISSOULA — The Montana Grizzlies have welcomed a new face to their roster as they chase a second straight Big Sky Conference title.
Turkish forward Yagizhan "Yagi" Selcuk joins Montana as a mid-year transfer. Selcuk, who hails from Istanbul, is joining the Griz after spending one semester at Towson University in Maryland. Selcuk, who is listed at 6-foot-8, 225 pounds, played in five games for the Tigers, scoring nine points on 3-for-8 shooting.
Selcuk initially chose Towson over Montana. He has enrolled at Montana as a student but will not be eligible to play until December, one year after his transfer. He has been taking part in team activities and been on the bench with the team during games the past couple of weeks.
As a senior in high school for the Phelps School in Pennsylvania, Selcuk averaged 13 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
