MILES CITY — Chris Witcher is the new head coach for the Miles Community College rodeo program.

School officials made the announcement on Wednesday. Witcher replaces Wally Badgett, who announced his retirement earlier this year.

Witcher has been an assistant with the Pioneers since August of 2018 while also working at the Miles City Livestock Commission. He was also an assistant coach with the program from 1995-97.

Prior to MCC, Witcher was an assistant coach for the Montana State rodeo program (1991-92).

An accomplished roper, Witcher is a six-time Northern Rodeo Association tie-down roping champion and five time RAM National Circuit Finals qualifier. He was also a three-time Montana Pro Rodeo Finals all-around champion.

Witcher also served as the vice-president of the NRA (2005-10) and was the tie-down roping director for the Montana Pro Rodeo Circuit (1995-2001).
