GREAT FALLS — A Carroll College women's relay team and senior pole vaulter Mika Robinson became the final Saints to qualify for the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championship on Thursday at the Providence Open.
On a day with high wind gusts and chilly temperatures, the 4x400 relay team made up of seniors Monica White, Keely Ehmann, junior Brooke Endy and sophomore Elly Machado ran their race in 3 minutes, 55.40 seconds to comfortably earn the NAIA B-Standard. Robinson vaulted 3.55 meters to earn the NAIA B-Standard.
"(The weather) didn't stop them from dropping the hammer and getting going," coach Harry Clark said. "They knew it was their last chance and they treated it as such."
With their qualifications, the Saints will send 15 individuals to the national meet on May 23 in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Freshman Chad Hemsley ran a 54.40 in the 400-meter hurdles to improve his qualification time.
