HELENA — Looking to continue its postseason run, the Rocky Mountain College men’s basketball team travels to Carroll College Friday for a semifinal game in the Frontier Conference Tournament.
The game will begin at 7 p.m.
The other semifinal game has Lewis-Clark State (23-8) at Montana Western (24-6). The Frontier title game is March 5 at the home of the highest remaining seed. The tournament champion receives an automatic berth in the NAIA National Tournament.
The Battlin’ Bears (18-13) advanced with a dramatic 73-72 win at Montana State-Northern on Jared Samuelson’s put back with 0.5 seconds left in the game. Rocky is the No. 5 seed.
The Saints (25-5), ranked No. 5 in the country, received a first-round bye by winning the regular-season title.
Carroll won two of three from Rocky during the regular season, the most recent, a 91-84 win on Feb. 9. The Battlin’ Bears won the first meeting of the season, 59-54, on Jan. 9, when the Saints were ranked No. 2 in the nation.
Samuelson is just 27 points away from becoming the third player for Rocky to score 600 points in a season since 1993-94.
The Saints are led by Ryan Imhoff, who is averaging a Frontier-best 19.9 points a game. The recent NAIA national player of the week is also averaging 7.2 rebounds. Match Burnham is adding 13.3 points a game.
Rocky and Carroll have just met twice during the Frontier Conference Tournament since 2004.
