PHOENIX — Rocky Mountain’s Eryn Ellis and Montana Tech’s Sean Benson held their leads after the second round of the Frontier Conference golf championships Tuesday at Papago Golf Course.

The Rocky Mountain men and women lead the team races. Rocky’s men (609) led Montana Tech by two strokes. Scoring 643 after two rounds, the Battlin’ Bear women led Lewis-Clark State by 28 strokes.

Ellis shot 76 on Tuesday to follow up her 77 on Monday. She’s 9-over at 153, one shot in front of L-C State’s Marissa Louder. Rocky’s Hayden Flohr, Amanda Conner and Morgan O’Neil are all tied for third at 20-over, 11 shots back.

Tech’s Benson is the lone golfer under par. The Billings Senior graduate shot 71-70 to sit at 3-under, seven strokes ahead of Providence’s Jonny Cielak. Rocky’s Reece Nilsen is third at 149.

The tournament wraps up Wednesday. Team champions as well as individual medalists receive automatic bids to the NAIA national tournament to be held May 15-17 at Lincoln Park Golf Course in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
