KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Rocky Mountain College and Montana Western are among the four Frontier Conference schools ranked in the 2019 NAIA Football Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll, which was released on Monday.
Rocky is ranked No. 23 and Western came in at No. 25.
The College of Idaho, which is the preseason favorite to win the Frontier title, is ranked No. 15, followed by Southern Oregon University at No. 20.
Defending champion Morningside College of Iowa is ranked No. 1 after going undefeated (15-0) in 2018. Benedictine (Kansas) is No. 2.
Rocky compiled an 8-4 overall record last fall en route to claiming its first Frontier title since 1999. The Battlin' Bears' season came to an end in the opening round of the national playoffs with a loss at Morningside.
Rocky has a new head coach this season in Chris Stutzriem. The Bears are picked by the coaches to finish fifth in the eight-school conference this fall.
The Bears will open their season on the road against No. 9-ranked Dickinson State at 6 p.m. on Aug. 29.
College of Idaho had a 6-5 record a year ago. Southern Oregon and Montana Western were 6-4.
Montana Tech and Eastern Oregon University were among the schools receiving votes.
The national poll's rankings are determined by the voting of a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences. Each conference provides one rater for every four schools in the league.
