Lewis-Clark State’s Dana Abe scored a team-high 17 point and Warriors built a double-digit lead by halftime en route to a 94-74 victory over Montana Western in the first round of the Frontier Conference men’s tournament on Wednesday evening in Lewiston, Idaho.
Damek Mithcell added 13 points for the Warriors (25-6, 14-5), Race Martin added 12 and Derrick White chipped in with 10.
LC-State, the tournament’s No. 2 seed, weathered a game-high 26-point performance from Bulldog Kooper Kidgell. Cedric Boone added 16 points for Western and Derrek Durocher scored 10.
First-year Bulldogs’ coach Mike Larsen concluded his inaugural season with Western at 9-21 overall and 3-15 in the Frontier Conference. Two of those league wins coming as back-to back victories over then-No. 22 Rocky Mountain College on Feb. 9 and Montana Tech on Feb. 14.
Lewis-Clark state will host MSU-Northern in the semifinals of the Frontier Conference tournament.
