DES MOINES, Iowa — Three Montana State-Northern wrestlers and one University of Providence wrestler advanced to the semifinals of the 62nd annual NAIA Wrestling National Championships at the Jacobson Exhibition Center here on Friday.
Brandon Weber of Forsyth (157), Andrew Bartel (165) of Mason City, Iowa, and Isaac Bartel (197) of Mason City, Iowa, all won quarterfinal matches for MSUN. In 2017, Weber was the 157-pound national champion and was singled out as the Most Outstanding Wrestler at the tourney.
Providence's Adrian Lyons-Lopez of Albany, Oregon, also advanced to the semifinals at 165 pounds. Providence's Casey Dobson (157) of Great Falls suffered a setback in the quarterfinals, but stayed alive in the tournament with a win in the fourth round of the consolation bracket.
At 133 pounds, Sidney's Gresh Jones also won his quarterfinal match for Dickinson State.
Seven-time defending national champion Grand View (Iowa) was leading the tourney with 137 points. Providence was eighth with 35 points and Northern 12th with 32 points.
