SEATTLE — Freshman Alyssa Etheridge pitched the first no-hitter in program history, helping the Montana State Billings softball team defeat Saint Martin's 8-1 to earn a split in a Friday doubleheader.
The Saints won the first game 3-2.
Saint Martin's won both games Saturday, 3-2 and 2-0. The Yellowjackets managed just six hits.
Etheridge, of Grants Pass, Oregon, struck out five, walked seven and allowed one unearned run on an error.
"During the game I had no idea, just went pitch by pitch, inning by inning," said Etheridge in an MSUB release. "It's awesome and I was in shock when I found out. It makes me want to work harder and set even more records in the four years I am here."
The Yellowjackets' Brittanee Fisher had three hits, including two doubles, and had three RBIs. Teammate Rylan Austin had four hits.
