BILLINGS — The Montana State Billings men’s and women’s basketball programs will host a pair of doubleheaders Thursday and Saturday at Alterowitz Gymnasium.
The Yellowjacket men (9-7, 4-4) host Great Northwest Athletic Conference leader Saint Martin’s (15-2, 8-1) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and will play Seattle Pacific (9-5, 6-3) on Saturday at 5:15 p.m. The Saints, ranked No. 23 in the nation, defeated Seattle Pacific 80-63 on Tuesday.
The MSUB women (7-7, 3-5) host Concordia (8-9, 3-6) on Thursday at 5:15 p.m. and play Western Oregon (6-9, 3-6) on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
The Yellowjacket men, coming off back-to-back overtime games last week, are in a three-way tie for fourth place in the league standings. The top six qualify for the GNAC Tournament.
Tyler Green continues to lead MSUB in scoring, averaging 16.9 points a game. Green leads the GNAC with 60 3-pointers and ranks ninth nationally for 3-point field goal percentage (48.2) and sixth for 3-pointers made per game (3.75).
Zack Rollins is averaging 15.8 points a game while Brendan Howard is averaging 13.2.
The Yellowjacket women are seventh in the GNAC standings with a group of six teams separated by 2.5 games.
Sophomore Hannah Collins leads MSUB in scoring, averaging 15 points a game. Since Dec. 18, Taryn Shelley is averaging 12.3 points and 10 rebounds a game, including three double-doubles.
Taylor Cunningham ranks fifth in the GNAC for 3-point field goal percentage (48.9). The single-season record is 49 percent by Amy Winslow during the 1995-96 season.
