BILLINGS — Taryn Shelley scored 18 points and Vanessa Stavish pulled down a career-high 15 rebounds to help Montana State Billings defeat Western Oregon 65-53 Saturday night in GNAC women's basketball at Alterowitz Gymnasium.
The Yellowjackets (8-8, 4-6) are on the road this week with games at Seattle Pacific (Thursday) and Saint Martin's (Saturday).
Shelley, a freshman center, also had nine rebounds and four blocked shots. She's blocked a total of nine shots in the last two games.
Hannah Collins added 15 points for MSUB. The Yellowjackets led 21-8 at the end of the first quarter and outscored the Wolves 17-6 in the third.
Stavish, a senior from Frenchtown, had 15 defensive rebounds. Her previous career high was 12 against Alaska Fairbanks on Jan. 12.
MSU limited the Wolves (6-10, 3-7) to 27 percent shooting from the field for the game and 12 percent (2 of 17) in the third quarter. WOU was just 2 of 14 from 3-point range.
Taisha Thomas led the Wolves with 11 points.
