PORTLAND, Ore. – Three players from the Montana State Billings women’s basketball team earned all-Great Northwest Athletic Conference honors.
Sophomore guard Hannah Collins was a second-team selection while senior forward Vanessa Stavish and freshman center Taryn Shelley earned honorable mention honors.
Collins, of Great Falls, averaged a team-high 14.8 points a game, which was second in the conference. She also had a team-high 84 assists and had 34 steals.
Stavish, of Frenchtown, averaged 11.8 points and 5.7 rebounds a game. She also had 53 assists. Stavish finished among the MSUB career leaders for 3-pointers.
Shelley, of Shorewood, Washington, averaged 11.1 points and a team-high 8.2 rebounds a game in her first season as a Yellowjacket. She had six double-doubles this season. Her 48 blocked shots rank No. 8 for a single season.
Hannah Wandersee was selected the GNAC Player of the Year after leading Alaska Anchorage to its fifth consecutive league title. The Seawolves’ Ryan McCarthy was chosen the Coach of the Year. Ozi Nwabuko of Simon Fraser was the Defensive Player of the Year while Olivia Vezaldenos of Concordia was chosen the Newcomer of the Year. Claire Dingus of Saint Martin’s edged out Shelley for Freshman of the Year honors.
