ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Kobe Terashima notched his second career double-double as Montana State Billings beat Alaska Anchorage 67-56 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference men's basketball on Thursday.
Terashima scored 16 points and totaled 11 rebounds. The win lifted the Yellowjackets (14-13, 9-10) above the Seawolves (14-14, 9-11) in the conference standings. MSUB is in contention to qualify for the six-team GNAC tourney with one game left to play in the regular-season finale on Saturday at Alaska.
The Jackets are now in a three-way tie for fifth in the GNAC with Western Washington (15-14, 9-10) and Simon Fraser (15-12, 9-10).
A win against the Nanooks would guarantee MSUB a position in the top six according to a school press release.
First-year Jackets coach Mick Durham was the head men’s basketball coach at Alaska from 2011-2018.
"The guys played determined in the second half and in the last eight minutes with the game on the line," Durham said in a school press release. "The road has been very tough on this team, but we preached to just play harder and harder. It keeps us alive with one game to go and another tough opponent Saturday night."
