MONMOUTH, Ore. — Western Oregon started fast and defeated Montana State Billings 97-65 Saturday night in GNAC men's basketball.

The Yellowjackets (11-11, 6-8) return to Alterowitz Gymnasium this week for their final home games of the season. MSUB will play Simon Fraser on Thursday and Western Washington on Saturday.

Brendan Howard scored a career-high 27 points for MSUB, finishing 12 of 15 from the field with a pair of 3-pointers and a free throw. Howard also had seven rebounds.

Sven Jeuschede added 13 points for the Yellowjackets. MSUB was without Melvin Newbern Jr. a second straight game because of an injury.

The Wolves (17-6, 10-4) led 56-33 by halftime and had five players finish in double figures.
