BILLINGS — Western Washington used 17 free throws to defeat Montana State Billings 53-48 Thursday night in GNAC women's basketball at Alterowitz Gymnasium.

The Yellowjackets (11-14, 7-12) close out the regular season Saturday, hosting Simon Fraser at 7 p.m.

Taylor Cunningham led MSUB with 11 points, while Taryn Shelley had 10 and Vanessa Stavish nine. Stavish has 151 career 3-pointers and needs five more to match Alisha Breen (2013-18) for seventh on the all-time list.

The Yellowjackets made just 12 of 23 free throws, while the Vikings made 17 of 23. MSUB shot 27 percent from the field and 22 percent from 3-point range.

Kelsey Rogers paced WWU with 13 points, while Katrina Gimmaka had a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds. The Vikings had five players score eight or more points.
