HELENA — The Helena Senators celebrated Mother's Day with a nonconference doubleheader with the Glacier Twins on Sunday at Kindrick Legion Field.
Mothers and grandmothers were honored by their players before the game with roses.
Glacier won both America Legion baseball games. The Twins won the first game 5-4 and the second game 5-3.
Ethan Kientz drove in three runs in the first game. Starting pitcher Hunter Kirkpatrick struck out five batters in four innings and did not allow an earned run. Four fielding errors put the Senators (5-4) behind and they couldn't catch up.
Helena's offense stalled in the second game. There were seven hits but 11 strikeouts, with 20 on the day. Zach Spiroff led the offense with two hits and two RBIs. Cy Miller had a hit and scored twice.
The Senators play their next four games at home. They have the Missoula Mavericks on Wednesday night, the Butte Miners on Thursday night and Bitterroot Bucs on Sunday for a doubleheader.
