HELENA -- Class AA Montana High School boys basketball included a couple of interesting games this week. Billings West toppled No. 3 Great Falls CMR and No. 2 Great Falls, which catapulted the Golden Bears to No. 5 on the 406mtsports.com’s list. Missoula Hellgate, from here until the end of the season, will be the team to beat. If anyone hopes to knock them off the pedestal, they will have to make a concerted effort rebounding the basketball. The Knights own the top spot until someone proves otherwise.

In Class A, the game between Hardin and Billings Central was arguably the premier contest of any classification, and Hardin exacted its revenge on Central, solidifying them as the new No. 1 in 406mtsports.com network polls.

Hardin defeated the Rams decisively, 75-67, thus settling the issue of who is ranked No. 1 for now. They utilized the scoring power of Andrew House, Trae Hugs, Famous Lefthand and Cayden Redfield to prove it. All four of those players tallied up double-digit point production against the Rams.

Class A is one of the most fiercely competitive classes, with multiple teams that could make surprising state appearances from multiple districts, but moving forward, this game settled issues at the top. Now, Hardin is the undisputed team to beat in Class A.

Class B is one of the most interesting classes to watch in boys basketball. Big Timber and Colstrip are two teams approaching the 20-win mark, but their ticket to the title game could easily be challenged by our No. 3 and No. 4 ranked teams. Without question, Bigfork possesses the big-game experience, which can’t be understated moving forward, but Missoula Loyola will also look to be in the mix in the race for a championship crown.

In Class C, the top-four teams -- Manhattan Christian, Arlee, Melstone and Scobey -- can all make their case to hoist a championship trophy at the end of the year.

Darby has quietly emerged on the 406mtsports.com radar, and they enter the bottom half of the rankings with a 15-1 record. There are plenty of competitors in the middle of our list that will also be in the championship conversation come tournament time. Any of these teams could punch their ticket to playing on Saturday night for the right to win a state title.
