BILLINGS — Shea Earley allowed just seven hits and one earned run over 12 innings to help Billings Skyview to an Eastern AA softball sweep of Butte on Saturday.
Earley shut out the Bulldogs on three hits in a 10-0 victory in game one, which went five innings. Ashlynne Copinga went 3 for 3 with two RBIs and Earley was 2 for 2 and also drove in two. Libby Painter and Hannah Quade had two-RBI games, as well.
Butte scored first in the second game, but Skyview used a four-run fourth inning to take the lead to eventually win 7-3. Jessica Ellis, Earley and Klaire Morris drove in two runs each, while Quade had a four-hit game and scored three times. Quade was 6-for-6 on the day.
Earley allowed six walks, but limited the damage by giving up just four hits. Brittney Tierney, Taylor Huff and Trisha Ericson all had RBIs to stake the Bulldogs to a 3-2 lead, but Earley shut them down over the final four innings.
Skyview improved to 4-0 in the league and 7-1 overall. Butte dropped to 0-3, 1-7.
