CMR's Tristin Achenbach

Great Falls CMR's Tristin Achenbach was named the Gatorade Montana Softball Player of the Year on Monday. Achenbach, who will attend the University of Montana for softball, went 17-1 and led the Rustlers to the Class AA state title.

CHICAGO— In 32 years of honoring the nation's best high school athletes, The Gatorade Company announced Tristin Achenbach of Great Falls CMR as its 2016-2017 Gatorade Montana Softball Player of the Year. Achenbach is the fourth Gatorade Player of the Year to be chosen from CMR. 

The 6-foot senior right handed pitcher led the Rustlers to a 24-1 record and the Class AA state championship this past season. Achenbach also won Gatorade Player of the Year in 2015-16 season.

She posted a 17-1 mark in the circle with a .23 ERA and 264 strikeouts in 122.1 innings pitched, only allowing 27 hits all season. At the plate, Achenbach batted .408 with 22 RBIs. She concludes her prep softball career with 16 state records, including 55 career doubles, 56 consecutive pitching wins, 19 no-hitters, and 1,169 strikeouts. 

Achenbach has maintained a 4.0 GPA in the classroom and volunteers with the Great Falls Rescue Mission. She has signed a letter of intent to play softball on scholarship at the University of Montana beginning this fall.
