BILLINGS -- Down a set, and match point as well, Bozeman rallied to beat Billings West 25-13, 28-30, 20-25, 27-25, 15-10 Thursday at the Golden Dome to take over second place in the Eastern AA volleyball standings.

The Hawks are 7-3 in the league and 10-11 overall. West fell to 6-4, 16-10 as the teams continue to fight for the second automatic bye to the Class AA state tournament behind top-ranked Billings Senior.

Mara Lynch led Bozeman with 20 kills and Sutton Vargo added 18 as the Hawks outhit West 58-41. Zoe Waddell had eight of Bozeman's 13 blocks.

Catherine Follett led West with 13 kills, and she had 12 digs and three blocks. Madeline Dawson had 20 digs and nine kills.

West held a 25-24 lead in set four with a chance to close out the match, but Bozeman won the next three points to stay alive. Then, at 5-5 in the fourth, the Hawks scored six consecutive points to take control.

The Hawks and Golden Bears also played a five-set match earlier this season in Bozeman, with West coming out the winner.
