BUTTE — The Missoula Jr. Bruins spotted the Butte Cobras a two-goal lead in the first period and then rallied for a 4-2 win at the Butte Community Ice Center.
Missoula boosted its record to 18-16 while the Cobras fell to 4-27-2 in the NA3 Hockey League's Frontier Division. The Jr. Bruins have won two of their last three games and sit in fourth place.
Butte's Tyson Stovin jumped on Missoula goalie Seth Daniel for two goals in the first 3 minutes. His first score came 16 seconds into the contest and his second roughly two minutes later.
The Jr. Bruins got on the board when Trevor Prince scored at 8:07 of the first period. Teammate John Bannon tied the score at 2-2 on an assist from Prince with just 15 ticks left in the second period.
Montana seized control in the third period. Ty Dittman scored the go-ahead goal on an assist from Prince at 10:21 in the period. Connor Frye added an insurance goal on assists from Vladimir Chinikaylo and Christian Ward at 11:39.
Josh Sample came on in relief of Daniel and earned the win in net for the visitors. Sample stopped all 11 shots he faced.
The Jr. Bruins will play the first-place Great Falls Americans on Saturday night in the Electric City.
