406mtsports.com is a first for Montana – a statewide all-sports website combining the resources of Lee Enterprises’ four major daily newspapers: The Billings Gazette, Missoulian, Helena Independent Record and The Montana Standard in Butte. Our mission is to cover Treasure State sports from border to border, from A to Z (Alder to Zortman).
After all, Montana is really just one large community with long stretches of lonely highways between neighbors. If it happens in Ekalaka, it’s important in Thompson Falls, Ennis and Saco as well. If they care in Wolf Point, they also care in Darby, Eureka and Broadus. Brock Osweiler might be from Kalispell, Tres Tinkle from Missoula and Dwan Edwards from Columbus, but they’re all Montanans and we’re all proud when they achieve on the national stage.
406mtsports.com is the place to come for all the sports that matter to Montanans: Cats and Griz, the Frontier Conference, MSU Billings and, of course, our nearly 200 high schools – from our largest Class AA schools right down to the smallest 6-Man football program. Under "Extra”, you’ll find every other sport of importance under the Big Sky: Rodeo, running, triathlons, lacrosse, rugby and cycling, to name a few, along with profiles of Montanans past and present whose impacts have been felt inside and outside the lines.
406mtsports.com is the place to come on Friday night for all of your high school scores and results. It’s also where you’ll find the most complete coverage of the Cats, Griz, Yellowjackets and our six Frontier Conference colleges.
As our new site grows, we want to hear from you. If you have a question, comment, concern or story idea for us at 406mtsports.com, contact Sports Director Jeff Welsch at 406-670-3849 or submit it online.
