The Missoula Osprey crept within three games of first-place Billings in the Pioneer League's Northern Division with a 3-2 win over Idaho Falls on Friday night at Ogren-Allegiance Park.
Missoula improved to 18-13 in the second half. Billings fell to 21-10 with a 6-4 loss at Great Falls. The Osprey close out their regular-season home slate Saturday at 7 p.m. against Idaho Falls.
Each team scored a run in the first. Missoula took a 2-1 lead in the fourth on an RBI double by Francis Martinez that scored Spencer Brickhouse, who had tripled.
Chukars manager Omar Ramirez was ejected in the fifth inning after Tyler Tolbert was caught stealing second base. The Chukars knotted the game at 2-2 in the same inning on a fielder's choice grounder by Rhett Aplin.
Missoula took a 3-2 lead in the eighth when Jose Curpa singled, took second on a balk and scored when Tristen Carranza reached on an error.
