The No. 13 Grizzlies won the 114th Brawl of the Wild 34-7 over the No. 12 Bobcats at Washington-Grizzly Stadium in front of 26,352 fans for their first home win in the series in six years and to earn a playoff berth. The Bobcats' offense came in averaging 40 points and 500 yards, but were held by the Grizzlies to a lone touchdown in the fourth quarter with freshman quarterback Quinn McQueary. In contrast, the Grizzlies scored all but seven of their points in the first quarter.
“Tonight reminded me of that run we had in 2011 when we were just rolling people,” said Grizzly quarterback Jordan Johnson after the game, alluding to a run to the playoff semifinals. “It just felt like we could do no wrong.”
After the season, Mick Delaney retired as coach of the Grizzlies.
