Mark Orphey, who most recently coached defensive backs at Montana State, has been named cornerbacks coach at Utah State.

Orphey coached the Bobcats' secondary during the 2017 and 2018 football seasons. Prior to joining the MSU staff, Orphey served as both a quality control coach and a graduate assistant at South Carolina. He was also the cornerbacks coach at his alma mater, Texas Southern.

Orphey and former defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Ty Gregorak each resigned from the Montana State staff in early January, and Bobcats coach Jeff Choate subsequently announced the hiring of Kane Ioane as defensive coordinator and safeties coach.

Choate also said secondary assistant Kyle Risinger would serve as MSU's cornerbacks coach. Bobby Daly was later hired to coach the Bobcat linebackers.
