State C Girls - Twin Bridges vs Box Elder 1

Box Elder's Joelnell Momberg, shown here dribbling past Twin Bridges' Michaela Madden during the Class C state tournament in Butte, has committed to Montana.

BOX ELDER — Joelnell Momberg, who as a sophomore helped the Box Elder girls basketball team to their first Class C state basketball title in 20 years, announced on her Facebook page Friday night that she has committed to the Montana Lady Griz.

Momberg, a 5-foot-9 guard, was one of three stars on a team that won its games by an average of 50 points during the regular season. Momberg is a two-time all-state pick.

"Very excited and blessed to announce my verbal commitment to be a Lady Griz!" she wrote on Facebook. "None of this would have been possible without my parents and the rest of my support system. I owe thanks to many people, but the greatest thanks is to the Creator for the moments I’m able to play basketball. Excited and can’t wait to see what the future holds....."

By rule, college coaches are not allowed to comment on recruits until they sign a national letter of intent.

Momberg's coach, Joel Rosette, calls her a "gym rat who spends a lot of time in the gym working on her game. She has a quick release and strong ball handler and can score in a variety of ways."
