Sacramento State wasted no time getting on the board as Hornet sophomore running back Elijah Dotson ran the ball three times on Sacramento State's four-play drive. His touchdown score was a 58-yard run. Devon Medeiros' PAT was good.

Montana struck right back. On first-and-10 from the UM 47, true freshman wide receiver Gabe Sulser took a handoff from quarterback Dalton Sneed and turned on the jets, dancing down the Montana sideline for a 53-yard score. Tim Semenza's PAT was good.
SCORE: Montana 7, Sacramento State 7.
The Grizzlies and the Hornets exchanged two empty drives before the Hornets got on the board again. Sacramento State marched down the field on a 6-play, 80-yard drive capped by a 1-yard touchdown run by Dotson. PAT was good.
KEY PLAY: Thomson finding Andre Lindsey for a 49-yard touchdown to convert a second-and-long.
SCORE: Sacramento State 14, Montana 7
Montana didn't let that stand. One play later, Sneed saw a hole up the middle and scampered down the field for a 75-yard touchdown run. PAT was good.

In between the first and second quarter, Montana legend Dave Dickenson was presented with a commemorative plaque ahead of his December induction into the College Football Hall of Fame.
Montana punted away the ball on its first drive of the second quarter, but senior running back Jeremy Calhoun had his first carry of the season. It went for no gain.
On Montana's next possession, the Grizzlies pieced together an 8-play, 50-yard drive capped by a 25-yard field goal by Semenza.

The Hornets only needed two plays to regain the lead. Dotson found a hole up the middle and broke free for a 66-yard touchdown run. PAT was good.

The back and forth ended with four minutes left in the half as Sacramento State went up by 11. Thomson found Ratliff for a 77-yard score, capping a two-play drive. PAT was good.

The Grizzlies answered with another rushing touchdown by Dalton Sneed — this time from 12 yards out. Sneed looked for an open receiver but the Hornets' coverage was solid, so he ran into the end zone untouched instead. PAT good.
KEY PLAY: Sneed's 21-yard pass to Louie-McGee on third-and-8.

The Grizzlies came out of the break with a fire and re-took the lead. Sneed found the endzone again for his third rushing touchdown of the day, this time for a 38-yard score on third-and-short. PAT was good.

Montana's defense had a goal line stand at the end of Sacramento State's first drive, forcing the Hornets to settle for a 23-yard field goal by Medeiros.

Montana regained the lead for the third time after Sneed orchestrated a 9-play, 63-yard scoring drive. On a gutsy fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line, Sneed found a wide open redshirt freshman tight end Matthew Rensvold for the score.
KEY PLAY: Sneed to senior wide receiver Keenan Curran for 33 yards.

Montana iced the game with a 24-yard field goal from Semenza, capping off a 9-play 69-yard drive.
KEY PLAY: Sneed running 50 yards to convert a third-and-4 and put Montana in the red zone.

The Hornets tacked on a late field goal with 0:11 remaining. Medeiros knocked down a 30-yard field goal for the last score of the game.
