The Montana men's and women's cross country teams swept the team titles Friday in their own Montana Invitational.
The Griz women took the first five spots in their 5-kilometer race to score a perfect 15 points. June Eastwood led the way, finishing in 17 minutes, 55.6 seconds, barely edging teammate Beatrix Frissell by one-tenth of a second. Samantha Engbretsen was third in 18:22, Hannah Wylie was fourth in 18:29.3, and Rachel Torrey was fifth in 18:30.70.
Rocky Mountain College finished second to the Griz at 63, followed by Montana Western and Carroll College, both at 80.
Rocky Mountain College's Jackson Duffey was the first attached runner in the men's race, finishing the 8-kilometer course in 25:36.80. Montana took the next five spots among attached runners, led by Will Dauenhauer at 26:03. Hunter May was next at 26:03.30, followed by Ben Vanderbosch (26:04.40, Kyle Peterson (26:09.40) and Maxwell Scott (26:32).
The Montana men won with a team score of 20. Rocky was second at 45 and Walla Walla was third at 87. Carroll was fourth at 88.
Montana's next action will be on Oct. 19 when they travel to Sunnyvale, California, for the Bronco Invitational.
