MISSOULA — The Montana football team landed at No. 8 in the FCS playoff committee's lone Top 10 rankings of the regular season, which were revealed Wednesday night.

The Griz are 7-2 overall, 7-1 against FCS teams and 4-1 in the Big Sky Conference. They have the potential to win at least a share of the conference crown if they can win their final three games of the regular season.

Three Big Sky teams were ranked in the Top 10, led by No. 3 Weber State (7-2, 5-0). At No. 5 is Sacramento State (6-3, 4-1), which lost to Weber State and beat Montana.

Montana State, ranked No. 12 in the STATS FCS Top 25, didn't make it into the playoff committee's Top 10.

North Dakota State (9-0) topped the poll after being ranked No. 1 in every STATS FCS Top 25 poll this season. The Bison are the defending national champion and have won seven of the past eight titles.

The rest of the Top 10 includes No. 2 James Madison (8-1), No. 4 South Dakota State (7-2), No. 6 Northern Iowa (6-3), No. 7 Central Arkansas (7-2), No. 9 Furman (6-3) and No. 10 New Hampshire (5-3).

The top eight teams on Selection Sunday earn a bye in the first round of the playoffs. Selection Sunday is Nov. 24.
