Amaya Rodriguez

Red Lodge libero Amya Rodriguez (1) is among four players signed by Montana State Billings.

BILLINGS -- Red Lodge defensive specialist/libero Amya Rodriguez is one of four players to sign letters of intent to play volleyball for Montana State Billings, the school announced Tuesday.

Also joining the Yellowjackets will be middle blocker Joelle Mahowald of Spokane Falls Community College; Hannah Hayden, a middle blocker for Lakewood, Colorado, High School; and setter Hannah Hashbarger of West Linn High School in Oregon.

Rodriguez averaged 5.2 digs per set and had a single-match high of 31 during her senior season with the Rams. She helped Red Lodge win the Class B state title in 2016.

"Amya has been around the Yellowjacket volleyball family for the last couple of years," said MSUB coach Casey Williams, whose team finished 13-17 last season. "She was a standout on the Red Lodge volleyball state team and will be a scrappy defender for us next year."
