LODGE GRASS — Senior Tonna Amyotte of Lodge Grass is the second Montanan who will be playing for Mendocino College in Ukiah, California, this coming school year.

Lodge Grass girls basketball coach Cameron McCormick said Monday that Amyotte will play volleyball and basketball at Mendocino. She was one of the Indians' leaders in assists and digs in volleyball, and a starter in basketball.

Amyotte will join her friend Julianna Takes Horse of Hardin, who recently signed a basketball letter with Mendocino.

"I feel grateful for getting this opportunity to continue my basketball career," Ayotte said through McCormick. "This sport has always been a part of my life. It's a lifestyle. I hope I go far and accomplish a lot. I hope I can make my new coaches proud and that I can represent my (Crow) tribe and my town in a good way."

Said McCormick: "Tonna possesses the potential to be a leader some day. She was as coachable as much or more than any player I have come across in my four-year career."

Amyotte was a key cog in a Lodge Grass girls basketball team that advanced to divisionals for the first time in nine years. She averaged 2.5 rebounds per game.
