2022 Class AA boys golf - Helena Capital Bruins
The Helena Capital boys golf team won their first Class AA boys golf title since 1987 by winning the 2022 tournament at home Sept. 30, 2022 at Green Meadow Country Club in Helena.
2022 Class AA girls golf - Billings Senior Broncs
The Billings Senior girls golf team topped the 2022 AA state golf tournament field Sept. 30, 2022 at Green Meadow Country Club in Helena.
2022 Class A girls golf - Polson Pirates
The Polson Pirates won the 2022 Class A tournament by 20 strokes even without a senior on their roster for their first girls golf title since 2013 on Oct. 1, 2022 at Hamilton Golf Club.
2022 Class A boys golf - Laurel Locomotives
The Laurel Locomotives won their second consecutive Class A boys golf title and fifth in the last sixth years with three finishers in the top six Oct. 1, 2022 at the Hamilton Golf Club.Â
2022 girls flag football - Kalispell Glacier Wolfpack
The Kalispell Glacier Wolfpack received the first state championship trophy for girls flag football in Montana Oct. 1, 2022 at Washington-Grizzly Stadium. They rallied to force overtime when meeting their crosstown rival Kalispell Flathead in the tournament championship, which also featured Butte, but ultimately won 20-19.
2022 Class AA boys cross country - Bozeman Hawks
Led by the 1-2 finish of Weston Brown and Nathan Neil, the Bozeman Hawks won the Class AA boys cross country championship Oct. 22, 2022 in Missoula with a score of 60, almost 30 points clear of the other podium teams.
2022 Class AA girls cross country - Missoula Hellgate Knights
The Missoula Hellgate Knights won the Class AA girls cross country championship Oct. 22, 2022 in Missoula with a score of 54 points without a runner in the top six of the field, but with all five point-earners earning all-state honors (top 15).
2022 Class A boys cross country - Livingston Rangers
The Livingston Rangers won their first Class A boys cross country championship Oct. 22, 2022 in Missoula to become the first boys team in 15 years east of the Continental Divide to win the trophy.
2022 Class A girls cross country champions - Hardin Bulldogs
Led by Karis Brightwings-Pease, the Hardin Bulldogs swept the top three individual places and won the Class A girls cross country championship Oct. 22, 2022 in Missoula.
2022 Class B boys cross country - St. Ignatius Bulldogs
Andrew Rush won the individual title to also lead the St. Ignatius Bulldogs to the Class B boys cross country team championship, both firsts in school history, Oct. 22, 2022 in Missoula. The team title was also the first for any St. Ignatius team since 1956 (boys basketball).
2022 Class B girls cross country - Columbus Cougars
In their second season competing without a co-op, the Columbus girls won the Class B girls cross country championship Oct. 22, 2022 in Missoula, edging runners-up Manhattan by five points with three Cougars earning all-state honors.
2022 Class C cross country - Manhattan Christian Eagles
The Manhattan Christian Eagles won both the boys and girls Class C cross country championships for the third year in a row Oct. 22, 2022 in Missoula. The boys were led by two-time winner Oren Arthun and accomplished a 1-2-3 sweep to break their state record low score with just six points, the lowest score possible with the current model. It was the seventh consecutive title for the Eagles boys. The girls won their third straight Class C title.
2022 Class AA boys soccer - Missoula Hellgate Knights
The Hellgate Knights celebrated their fourth consecutive Class AA boys soccer championship after defeating Billings Senior 1-0 Oct. 29, 2022 at Fort Missoula. The Knights finished 16-1 with their ninth-straight appearance in the title game and are the first team to win four AA boys soccer championships in a row.
2022 Class AA girls soccer - Bozeman Gallatin Raptors
Bozeman Gallatin girls soccer players and fans pose with the Class AA state championship trophy after the Raptors' 3-1 defeated Missoula Sentinel for their first girls soccer championship Oct. 29, 2022 at Bozeman Sports Park in Bozeman. The Raptors finished 15-0-2 a year after finishing as the AA girls runners-up.
2022 Class A girls soccer - Billings Central Rams
Billings Central defeated Whitefish 2-1 Oct. 29, 2022 in Whitefish for the 2022 Class A girls soccer championship. With the win, the 14-1 Rams earned a state record 10th championship.
2022 Class A boys soccer - Columbia Falls Wildcats
After two consecutive years of runner-up finishes, the Columbia Falls Wildcats celebrated after winning the 2022 Class A boys soccer championship by defeating Livingston 5-2 Oct. 29, 2022 in Columbia Falls. It was the Wildcats' first boys soccer title in 17 years, fourth total, and the first time in school history that they finished with a perfect record of 15-0.
2022 Class C volleyball - Manhattan Christian Eagles
The Manhattan Christian Eagles went the long way around having to win two championship matches to repeat as Class C champions by defeating Bridger 3-1 and 3-0 on Nov. 12, 2022 at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse in Bozeman. It was the fourth title for the Eagles (all since 2011) and their fourth straight appearance in the championship match, three of which they had faced Bridger for.
2022 Class B volleyball - Huntley Project Red Devils
The Huntley Project Red Devils pose for a picture after winning their state record 14th Class B state championship Nov. 12, 2022 at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse in Bozeman. With no seniors on their squad, they defended their 2021 title by facing off with Shepherd. The Red Devils and Fillies met 11 times throughout the season, including twice in the championship when Shepherd forced a second match after winning the first 3-0, but the Red Devils triumphed in the second 3-0 for the title.
2022 Class A volleyball - Billings Central Rams
The Billings Central Rams won their third straight Class A championship by defeating Havre 3-0 in a second championship match at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse in Bozeman Nov. 12, 2022. The Blue Ponies won the first game 3-1 to force the second game for the second year in a row, but ultimately the Rams were able to earn the three-peat after earning their way into the tournament through the play-in game as the lowest seed from the Eastern A.
2022 Class AA volleyball - Billings Senior Broncs
The Billings Senior Broncs won the 2022 Class AA state championship at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse in Bozeman on Nov. 12, 2022. The Broncs earned their first title since 2014 by defeating crosstown rivals Billings West 3-0 in the first championship game to force a second and then 3-2 for the title. It was the Broncs' 13th title in school history and the first under coach Courtney Bad Bear.
2022 Class AA football - Helena Capital Bruins
The Helena Capital Bruins defeated Bozeman 35-14 to earn the 2022 Class AA football championship and finish the season 12-0 Nov. 18, 2022 in Helena. It was the Bruins' 12th title and their first since 2011.
2022 Class A football - Lewistown Golden Eagles
The Golden Eagles defeated the Billings Central Rams 34-14 for the 2022 Class A state championship at Fergus High School in Lewistown Nov. 19, 2022. They finished the season 12-0 and earned the first title in school history since 2001.
2022 Class B football champions - Florence Falcons
The Florence Falcons celebrate after winning back-to-back Class B titles by defeating rival Missoula Loyola 48-7 in Florence Nov. 19, 2022. After breaking a drought in 2021 that had stretched back to 1977, the Falcons won two of their three Class B titles in the past two years.
2022 8-player football - Belt Huskies
The Belt Huskies defeated St. Ignatius 52-24 for the 2022 8-player football championship Nov. 19, 2022 in St. Ignatius. The Huskies won their first title since 1994 and finished the season undefeated at 12-0.
2022 6-Player Champions - Big Sandy Pioneers
After years of getting close, the Big Sandy Pioneers finished 2022 undefeated and earned the first football championship in school history with a 67-27 victory over Broadview-Lavina Nov. 19, 2022 in Big Sandy.
